Margaret stands by the castle window in tears. She blames herself for Lily's death and for ruining Chloe's life. A flashback shows ten-year-old Chloe joining the family and young Stefan protecting her from vampire bullies. Years later on Chloe's twentieth birthday, Stefan drinks drugged blood and attacks her. When Chloe becomes pregnant, Margaret forces Stefan to marry her. Elena leaves Seabrook in fury, while Stefan begins his deep hatred for Chloe.

Margaret stands alone in a Wexley castle room after hanging up the phone. She cries beside the window. She speaks out loud to apologize to Chloe, taking full blame for Lily's death and for destroying Chloe's life.
00:15: Young Stefan Defends Orphaned Chloe
A flashback returns to the castle grounds when Chloe is ten years old. The Wexley family takes her in. Bullying vampires mock Chloe as a stray blood bag, but a young Stefan steps in and threatens to rip them apart.
00:56: Stefan Attacks Chloe in Her Bedroom
On Chloe's twentieth birthday, Stefan drinks drugged blood and loses all control. He forces himself onto Chloe in her bedroom. The following morning, Stefan wakes up furious and accuses Chloe of plotting to climb into his bed.
01:28: Forced Marriage and Elena's Departure
Chloe learns she is pregnant. Margaret begs Chloe to keep the unborn baby and orders Stefan to marry her. Elena reacts with rage and storms away from Seabrook, while Stefan locks in his bitter resentment toward his new human bride.
