Claire rushes into Noah's classroom and checks his bruised cheek. Noah explains that his classmate Ethan hit him and claimed Noah had no father. Jack steps in and introduces himself as Noah's dad, promising to stay by his side. Claire steps out with the teacher, leaving Jack with the boys. When Ethan sneers at Jack, Jack warns him. Then Ethan's father, Mark, storms in, and Jack recognizes him from an earlier encounter.

Claire enters the classroom and examines Noah's bruised cheek. Noah cries and explains that Ethan called him a liar and said he does not have a father. Ethan stands nearby and continues to taunt Noah about having no dad.

Jack walks into the classroom and announces himself as Noah's father. He kneels down to comfort the crying boy. Jack reassures Noah and makes a direct promise that he will not leave him alone today.

A teacher pulls Claire out to the doorway to talk in private. Before stepping outside, Claire tells Jack to pick up parenting quickly. Jack stays inside the classroom alone with both young boys.

Jack asks Noah why he hit Ethan during their fight. Ethan sneers and calls Jack a fake dad. Jack does not lose his temper, but he firmly tells Ethan to keep his hands to himself.

Ethan's father Mark storms through the door shouting in anger. He demands to know who touched his boy. Jack looks up at the man and immediately recognizes him from their earlier confrontation on the road.
