Alexander corners Emilia in her bedroom and tells her to discard belongings so Mia will not worry. Emilia pushes him away. Eleanor enters with medication, and Alexander announces he must head home to cook dinner for Mia. Emilia recalls caring for Alexander while he neglected her through high fevers. As Alexander exits and shuts the door, Emilia breaks down weeping in Eleanor's arms and reveals that she is pregnant.
