Episode 5 · Mateo Rojas, Valentina Montemayor, Diego
Ernesto tells Mateo to remain at home and promises to help him secure a regular job tomorrow. Mateo agrees in order to quietly look after his parents. He calls Diego, who claims he is busy with an important client at the Blue Shark bar. When Mateo arrives at the bar, he hears Diego bragging to a woman about stealing two hundred million pesos from him. Diego scrambles to cover his tracks.
Ernesto asks Mateo to stay home and promises to find him an ordinary job tomorrow. Mateo listens quietly and agrees to take regular work. He decides to stay close so he can watch over Ernesto and Rosa.
Mateo stands near street ruins and calls Diego to ask where he is. Diego sits in the Blue Shark bar with women around him. Diego lies, saying he is with a big client, and delays their meeting until tomorrow.
Diego brags to his companion in a silver dress about taking Mateo's money. Mateo suddenly steps forward and confronts him. Diego panics, claims he gave all the cash to Mateo's parents, and offers him a drink.
“A client, loaded, soft in the head. Eight years, money every month. Two hundred million pesos, his best.”
“So that's what I am to you? A fool?”
“Relax, every peso, straight into their hands. Come on — eight years! Drink with me. To old times!”
Diego nervously hands Mateo a glass of liquor, claiming he gave all the money to Ernesto and Rosa. He asks to toast their long friendship. Mateo grips the glass in silence and stares coldly at his former friend. Will Mateo accept the drink, or will he make Diego pay for eight years of betrayal?
