Meanwhile, Ivar pays a tailor handsomely for peasant clothes, dismisses his soldiers, and heads into the zoo alone to jog his memories.

A noble offers to take Ivar to see the royal zoo and its wicked beasts. Ivar refuses to tolerate insults against his former battlefield comrades. He states he came to find his family. The noble then offers Ivar his home.

Inside a private castle room, Ivar dresses in a simple hooded peasant tunic. He reaches into his coin pouch and fills the tailor's open palm with silver coins to reward him for the modest clothes.

Ivar orders his guards to leave him alone. He plans to walk through the zoo unescorted to see if the creatures jog his missing memories. After giving the order, he walks outside into the dark courtyard by himself.
