Episode 6 · Lily, Kane, Bryce
Kane carries Lily to a ruined supermarket and sets her down at the entrance. She follows him into the dark building. A horde of zombies rushes toward them, so Lily leaps onto Kane's back. Kane drops his blood onto her palm and the floor. The creatures immediately kneel and retreat. Realizing his blood masks her scent, Lily walks past the zombies, spots an undead cashier, and happily prepares to shop for free.
Kane carries Lily across the ruined city to a dark supermarket entrance. He places her on the ground and steps inside the dark building alone. Lily hesitates near the doorway before choosing to follow him into the shadows.
Lily walks into the supermarket aisles behind Kane. Suddenly, a swarm of aggressive zombies rushes toward them. Lily screams in terror and leaps directly onto Kane's back, clinging tightly to him as the undead charge closer.
Kane places drops of his blood onto Lily's palm and down onto the supermarket floor. The attacking zombies halt instantly. Instead of striking, the entire horde drops to their knees and crawls backward in complete submission before them.
Lily figures out that Kane's blood hides her human scent from monsters. She runs through the aisles past harmless zombies. When she spots an infected cashier standing at a register, Lily loudly celebrates getting free food and goods.
“It's dark in there”
“What the... your blood hides my scent?”
“Even after turning into zombies, the working class is still working.”
“Free shopping!”
Lily realizes the zombies are completely pacified by Kane's blood. She wanders freely through the ruined store, marveling at the docile cashier and screaming with excitement about taking whatever groceries she wants. But will this protective scent last long enough for them to gather food, or will another danger interrupt her shopping trip?
