Episode 7 · Owen, Nora, Adrian Hawthorne
Owen calls Nora because his pasta spoiled in the warm refrigerator. Nora brushes him off as making excuses. Adrian takes the phone to berate Owen for interrupting their vacation. Owen answers that Adrian, Nora, and Milo are not a family, and that he is Nora's husband. Adrian mocks Owen's inability to feed himself. Nora takes the call back, telling Owen to drink from the tap, but no water comes out.
Owen calls Nora from the apartment to tell her the pasta went bad because the refrigerator stopped staying cold. Nora refuses to listen. She claims he is inventing excuses to force her to cut her camping trip short and come home.
Adrian snatches the phone from Nora and yells at Owen for disrupting their lakeside getaway. Owen tells him that Adrian, Nora, and Milo do not make a real family. Adrian laughs and mocks Owen for failing to heat up basic food.
Nora takes the phone back and orders Owen to stop calling and locate food. Owen explains that he has neither food nor water left. Nora directs him to the faucet, but nothing flows from the spout when he turns the handle.
“The pasta's gone bad.”
“The three of us finally got to come out together. You've been calling nonstop.”
“You're not a family of three.”
“Then why can't you even heat up food?”
Owen holds the phone near the kitchen sink and turns the faucet handle, but not a single drop of water emerges. Nora hears the dry tap over the line as Owen stands trapped with nothing left to consume. Will Nora finally realize how dangerous Owen's situation is, or will she continue to ignore him?
