Episode 2 · Ryan Vance, Jax, Damian Vance
Jax steps in and warns Damian against fighting at the Gathering. Damian refuses to back down, so Jax unleashes a glowing blue aura that knocks the guards away and makes Damian spit blood. Damian flees. Jax reaches down to help Ryan, and a bright light wraps around their wrists. Jax realizes Ryan is his fated mate and offers him help. Brim suddenly shouts for Ryan to come quickly, and Ryan runs away.
Jax tells Damian that the Gathering is not a place for House Vance infighting. Damian talks back, so Jax releases a glowing blue wolf aura. The blast knocks back the guards, brings Damian to his knees coughing blood, and sends him running.
Jax asks Ryan if he can stand up and reaches out his hand. When Ryan takes it, glowing light circles their wrists. Jax discovers Ryan is his fated mate. He tells Ryan to seek him out if his family casts him away.
Brim appears on the terrace and shouts that an urgent problem has occurred. Ryan thanks Jax and runs up the steps to follow Brim. Jax stays by the fountain, holding Ryan's touch in his memory and murmuring the young man's name.
“I'm disciplining my own family's runt. You've got no say in it!”
“He's my fated mate?”
“If your family casts you out, you can come to me. Any time.”
“Ryan. Get over here! Something's happened! Come on!”
Brim shouts that an emergency has happened and rushes Ryan away from the courtyard. Ryan leaves Jax behind and runs up the terrace stairs. Jax watches him go while quietly murmuring his name. What crisis has happened that pulls Ryan away, and will House Vance punish him for Damian's humiliation?
