Sterling Clan warriors inspect the courtyard and find the Abyssal Serpent burned to ash. They decide to search for the person who killed it. On a castle balcony, Soren uses dragon fire to keep Elena warm. He tells her that her real family never intended to abandon her. Elena admits she wishes Soren were her family. He begins to tell her the truth, but an explosion of dark magic hits the castle.
Sterling Clan warriors gather outside in the courtyard. They discover the Abyssal Serpent has been completely incinerated to ashes. The warriors cannot believe the sight. They pledge to track down the unknown fighter who possessed enough strength to defeat the creature.
Soren stands with Elena in the corridor. He comforts her with dragon fire and promises her birth parents never wanted to leave her. Elena confides that she wishes Soren were her kin. Soren prepares to tell her his secret.
A sudden blast of dark magic violently shakes the fortress before Soren can finish speaking. An enemy voice rings out across the castle walls. The unseen speaker swears vengeance for the dead Abyssal Serpent and targets the entire clan.
“Abyssal serpent. It's been burnt to nothing. That's impossible.”
“No, Elena. They never wanted to abandon you. No family in this world would ever just abandon its own blood.”
“Honestly, sometimes when I look at you, I think how nice it would be if you were my family.”
“Destroy my Abyssal Serpent. Today is the day your Sterling family dies.”
Dark magic blasts through the castle walls, cutting off Soren before he can reveal his true bond with Elena. A hostile voice declares war to avenge the incinerated serpent. Can the Sterling Clan withstand this sudden assault, and will Elena learn the truth about her bloodline before the fortress falls?
