Seth counts the bet money he won from his friends outside City Hall. He informs Maya that his proposal was purely a joke. He tells her to go inside and find a random stranger if she wants a husband. Seth's friends surround her, take photos, and mock her. Seth steps in and tells them to leave the birthday girl alone. Seconds later, he snaps a ten-dollar bill into her face.
Seth counts a thick stack of cash at the bottom of the steps. He tells Maya that marriage was just a joke. Then he sneers that she should walk inside City Hall and pick any random man if she wants a husband.
Seth's friends form a circle around Maya in her wedding dress. They aim their phones at her, take photos, and jeer that she is unworthy of Seth. Maya stays quiet on the plaza and recalls past times they humiliated her.
Seth steps forward and tells his friends to quit bullying the birthday girl. Maya looks up at him with hope. A second later, Seth snaps a ten-dollar bill directly into her face while his friends burst into laughter.
“Maya, it was just a joke. You didn't actually take me seriously, did you?”
“If you're really that desperate to get married, go inside and grab any guy you see, I won't stop you.”
“Hey you bastards, it's the birthday girl's birthday, don't bully her.”
Seth snaps the ten-dollar bill straight into Maya's face. His friends laugh out loud and flash their cameras at her. Maya stands frozen on the plaza in her wedding gown with tears in her eyes. How will Maya react to this public humiliation, and will anyone come to her aid outside City Hall?
