Outside her family diner, Tessa stops an out-of-control black SUV with her bare hands. Eleanor Ashford steps out and offers a one-year fake engagement contract to clear family debts. Tessa accepts and arrives at the Ashford villa, where Julian Ashford greets her with strict rules.

Eleanor Ashford enters Hart's Diner after the crash. She presents Tessa with a formal deal to become Julian's fiancée for twelve months. In exchange, Eleanor pledges to pay off the family debts, cover upcoming surgery costs, and fund Tessa's college tuition.
02:44: Arrival at the Ashford Villa
Tessa walks up to the Ashford villa and snaps a wheel off her suitcase on the front stairs. Julian Ashford answers the door with a disgusted glare. He lists three rigid conditions for their fake arrangement and demands answers.
