Lana overpowers Adrian on the floorboards, stating her duty is only to Noah. After she departs, Julian steps forward and proposes getting rid of her, but Adrian forbids him from touching her. Inside Noah's bedroom, the child cannot sleep. Lana sits beside him, recounting childhood feats of moving a heavy stone trough and wrestling a bull. Noah clutches her arm and drops off to sleep.
