Fated dragon mate and mother
Elara is a mortal mother fighting for her son's survival. Six years ago, she cured Silas of lust poison on a hillside. Now living in poverty, she faces ruthless debt collectors and beast nobles. She enters a perilous trade fair as a slave solely to earn money and find the biological dragon breath needed to keep Leon alive.
Silas

Silas commands immense dragon power and rules from a mountain castle. After Elara broke his curse six years ago, he searched relentlessly for his destined partner. Silas possesses fierce combat abilities, including lightning claws. He rejects Snake Princess Quinn with lethal force. Silas remains loyal to the woman whose mark resonates with his own.

Half-dragon son of Elara and Silas
Leon is Elara and Silas's young child who possesses latent dragon powers. He bears glowing dragon markings on his forehead. When debt collectors threaten his mother, he summons a massive golden dragon spirit to defend her. His half-dragon physiology requires his biological father's breath to stabilize his dragon crystal before age ten.
Quinn
Princess of the Snake Clan
Quinn is a calculating antagonist who seeks power through an alliance with Silas. Six years ago, she dosed Silas with fatal lust poison to force him into choosing her as his mate. When she tries to seduce him at the foreign trade fair, Silas exposes her scheme and brutally rejects her.
Story so far
Power dynamics in fantasy dramas usually favor the supernatural predator, but this story builds its tension on desperation and survival. Elara starts with nothing. Six years ago, she found a poisoned black dragon collapsed on a hillside and saved his life with an embrace. That encounter produced Leon, a half-dragon child whose forehead bears an active dragon mark. In town, Elara endures predatory debt collectors and abusive beast nobles while trying to raise her sick son. The mortal world treats her as expendable labor, yet her bond to dragon royalty makes her the most critical player in the city.
Silas holds supreme authority as the Dragon Lord, yet his status never protected him from betrayal. Snake Princess Quinn poisoned him years ago to force a mate bond. That curse threatened his life until Elara intervened on the grassy hillside. Silas spends years searching for the woman who saved him, guided only by the dragon crest on his chest. When Leon's awakening power alerts Silas from the sky, the Dragon Lord descends into town to claim his family. Silas commands warriors like Thorn and punishes treachery with lightning claws. He treats Elara as his fated partner and rightful equal.
The central drama turns on how these parents reconnect under brutal pressure. Elara does not know the name of her past lover. She only knows her son will die before age ten without his father's dragon breath. That harsh reality pushes her into a dangerous foreign trade fair to clear her debts and find help. Quinn schemes behind the scenes to secure Silas through marriage. Silas rejects Quinn and searches the arena below, driven by the burning mark on his chest.
