At a celebration for Don Cassian's heir, his mistress Tessa shocks the room by asking for an abortion. Cassian smashes his glass in anger while his mother looks on. In the silence, the maid Fiona hears the unborn child's spirit complaining about Tessa. Fiona suddenly speaks up and offers to carry Cassian's child. Cassian holds a gun to Fiona's throat, but she stands firm against Tessa's insults.
The Belondi family gathers to celebrate Cassian's unborn heir. His favored mistress, Tessa, interrupts the event with a sudden announcement. She refuses to be treated like a baby machine and asks the Don for permission to get an abortion.
The banquet hall turns tense after Tessa makes her demand. Cassian's mother, Mrs. Belondi, sits with a grim face. Cassian erupts in pure fury, slamming and smashing his drinking glass directly onto the floor before the room.
Amid the silence, Fiona hears a strange voice inside her head. The unborn lucky baby complains about Tessa's rejection. The spirit insists that plenty of people would gladly welcome its fortune if Tessa refuses to have the child.
Fiona impulsively yells that she wants the child. Cassian draws his firearm and presses the barrel against her throat, demanding answers. Trembling on her knees, the maid tells him she wants to help Tessa and bear his heir.
The lucky baby reacts with surprise when Fiona responds to its voice. The spirit realizes the maid can hear every word. Still resting inside Tessa's belly, the baby directly asks Fiona if she wants to be its mommy.
Tessa ridicules Fiona for volunteering, comparing women who dedicate their lives to raising children to common livestock. Fiona stays calm and defends herself, replying that choosing to have a baby is her own personal decision.
“I'm still young. I have things I want to accomplish. I decide my own life. I'm not a baby machine. So please Don, let me get an abortion.”
“Fiona, what did you say you wanted?”
“I—I want to help the Donna. And I'd be happy to give you an heir.”
“If a woman spends her whole life getting pregnant and raising kids, how is that any different from livestock?”
Fiona stands up to Tessa's insults, stating that choosing motherhood is her own choice just as much as Tessa's refusal. Don Cassian stares at the kneeling maid with an unreadable expression on his face. Will Cassian punish Fiona for stepping out of line, or will he accept her shocking offer to carry his next heir?
