Episode 4 · Valeria, Emilio, Thiago
Valeria sits alone at the civil marriage registry holding ticket number 35. Because her fiancé has not arrived, the clerk tells her to queue again. Instead of coming, Rodrigo texts that he is too busy, while social media shows him kissing Camila. Valeria immediately texts him to break up, deletes his contact, and shreds her ticket. As she walks out the doors, she bumps into Thiago on the entrance steps.
Valeria sits by herself in the hall with ticket number 35. When her number is called, she approaches the counter alone. The registry clerk tells her that she must take a new number and wait in line again.
Other couples celebrate around Valeria in the hall. Rodrigo sends a message claiming he cannot make it today. Seconds later, Valeria sees a photo online of Rodrigo kissing Camila instead of coming to the marriage registry.
Valeria texts Rodrigo that they are finished and immediately deletes his phone number. She tears her paper queue ticket into small scraps. Then she collects her passport from the bench and walks toward the exit doors.
Valeria looks down at her phone as she walks out of the building. She accidentally crashes into Thiago, who wears a white suit and holds heart balloons. Thiago reaches out and catches her firmly by both hands.
“Excuse me, I'm number 35. But my fiancé isn't here yet.”
“Let's register another day. I don't have time today.”
“What you can't hold onto is trash.”
Valeria finds herself held by Thiago on the steps of the marriage registry. After destroying her ticket and cutting ties with Rodrigo, she looks directly into the eyes of this stranger holding heart balloons. Will Valeria walk away from this encounter, or will Thiago give her a reason to step back inside?
