Rourke leads raiders into a wasteland settlement to gather resources. Young Mia Hale shields the bound machine Kilo, but Rourke orders his gang to butcher the camp and seize them both. Mia bites a raider and flees. Gunfire punctures a nearby fuel tank, splashing fuel into Kilo's core. When Mia discovers her mother's killer in a tent, she screams for help. Hearing her plea, Kilo snaps his ropes and stands upright.
Mia Hale stands with open arms in front of Kilo, who is tied to a motorcycle. Rourke mocks the machine as useless scrap. He orders his men to slaughter the other settlers and take Mia and Kilo to trade for fuel.
A raider tries to grab Mia, but she bites his hand and runs down the road. The raider shoots at her and hits the motorcycle. Leaking fuel drips into Kilo's chassis and restarts the dormant mechanical core.
Mia rushes inside a tent to locate her mother. She runs directly into a raider holding a bloodstained knife. The man says he killed her mother and puts the blade to Mia's neck. Mia screams for Kilo to save her.
Kilo reacts to Mia's distress call from outside. The machine's core surges with power, and its eyes glow with gold light. Kilo snaps the thick ropes binding its limbs and rises to full height in the middle of camp.
“Don't touch him! He's my god! He'll protect me!”
“Kill the rest. Take the girl and the machine. They might buy us fuel.”
“The older one fought. So I silenced her. Let's see if the little one behaves.”
“Kylo, please save me!”
Kilo hears Mia scream from the tent. Power floods the mechanical core, lighting the machine's eyes with a brilliant gold flare. Kilo breaks through the ropes and stands tall in the camp. Will the awakened war machine reach the tent in time to strike down the armed raiders and protect Mia?
