Vance Sterling arrives at the telephone booth and slips on the ice. He finds the receiver hanging loose and spots Lyra's shoe in the snow. Vance orders Silas to begin an immediate search across the town. Meanwhile, Roxy confronts Lyra in the basement with a wire hanger. Lyra pulls a shelf down on Roxy, fights back, and climbs through a high window. She drops into the snow and runs into the blizzard.

Vance Sterling reaches the telephone booth by truck and slips on the ice. He spots the hanging receiver and picks up Lyra's shoe from the snow. Vance realizes someone took his daughter and commands Silas to search the entire town.
00:49: Cellar Confrontation with Roxy
Lyra huddles in the dark basement as Roxy enters carrying a wire hanger. Roxy threatens to break her legs. Lyra pulls down a shelf onto Roxy, strikes back against her grip, and scrambles up toward an overhead window.
01:41: Escape into the Night
Lyra squeezes through the small basement window opening. She falls directly into the deep snow outside. Lyra does not stop, running barefoot through the freezing winter storm alone under the night sky.
