The next morning, she drives to an older neighborhood, inspects Derek's dusty, neglected house, and strides outside.
Sylvia stands at the counter while the bank teller hands her card back. The teller displays Derek's massive account balance on the monitor. Sylvia looks at the huge number on the screen and stands there completely stunned.
Night falls over the city. Sylvia sits beside the window of her high-rise apartment and sips a glass of red wine. She pulls out her phone and types a three-step plan to get fit, study finance, and learn the battlefield.
The next morning, Sylvia gets into her car and drives over to an older neighborhood. She walks inside Derek's old house. Dust covers the surfaces, and the neglected rooms sit empty and quiet as she looks around every corner.
Sylvia steps outside the front door and walks along the street. She speaks with firm resolve about Derek's voyage. She states that he can sail in complete peace because she is stepping up to take command of his entire empire.
“I was no longer Sylvia the corporate drone. I was a warrior holding a fortune heading into battle.”
“Derek you go sail in peace. Your homefront is in my hands. Your empire is mine to run.”
Sylvia walks down the sidewalk outside Derek's neglected property with total confidence. She decides that while her husband sails across the ocean, she will run his homefront and take charge of his assets. Will Sylvia manage to hold down Derek's domestic empire on her own, or will unexpected family demands quickly challenge her authority?
