Sophie collapses after coughing up blood and awakens back at the Coleman estate. Kathleen tries to comfort her with news about the police. Sophie asks to be let go. She remembers her childhood arrival and seven hard years of marriage. Grandpa Coleman offers an apology, schedules the twins' cremation, and permits her departure. When Sophie returns to her room, James confronts her, mocks her silence, and violently pins her down onto the bed.

Sophie wakes up in bed with Kathleen weeping beside her. Kathleen insists the police will hold the camp abusers accountable. Sophie begs Kathleen to let her go, and Kathleen suggests talking to their grandfather on her behalf.

Sophie remembers arriving at the Coleman house at age eight after losing her grandfather, who saved Grandpa Coleman during wartime. She recalls surviving seven cold years married to James for the family's sake and for her daughters.
02:11: Grandpa Coleman Grants Sophie Freedom
Grandpa Coleman consoles Sophie and expresses deep regret for her pain. He tells her that the twins will undergo cremation tomorrow. Then he officially grants Sophie permission to walk away from both James and the entire family.
02:58: James Attacks Sophie in Her Bedroom
Sophie enters her room and finds James waiting for her. He mocks her for speaking to his grandfather. Sophie stays silent to honor her daughters' memory. James loses his temper, shoves her onto the bed, and traps her wrists.
