Who is who in Obsessed by My Stepbrother, and how they are connected.
Iris Sterling
Female Protagonist
Iris Sterling spent three years trying to survive on her own after abandoning her life in Italy to protect Victor's mother. Her birth family treated her with contempt, while Cedric betrayed her with Serena. She resists being used as a bargaining chip for Dr. Blake. Her growing feelings for Victor make her question the boundary between sister and lover.
Victor Sterling
Head of the Sterling Family
Victor Sterling operates with absolute authority as the head of his family. He rescued Iris as a child and spent three years searching for her every single day. He uses immense wealth and physical intimidation to eliminate threats around her. Victor promises to obey the law for Iris, yet he leaves the total ruin of her tormentors entirely up to her.
Cedric Shaw
Iris's Former Fiancé
Cedric Shaw acts out of entitlement and weak calculations. He cheated on Iris with Serena and pressured her to drop criminal charges after a vehicular attack. When he finds Victor in Iris's apartment, he attempts violence and gets humiliated instantly. His family orders him to secure Iris for mineral rights. Now Cedric is desperate to uncover Victor's true identity.
Serena
Adopted Hale Daughter
Serena is the adopted daughter of the Hales who actively plotted Iris's death through a staged car crash. Despite her position as an adoptive child, the family openly favors her over Iris. Now hospitalized with cancer, she relies on Cedric and the Hales to manipulate Iris into summoning Dr. Blake. She does not know that Victor has blocked all medical assistance.
Story so far
Iris Sterling made a tactical sacrifice three years ago. She fled Italy and cut ties with her adoptive brother Victor because the Sullivan family threatened his mother. Her return to the Hales brought only cold neglect. Her biological mother favored Serena, the adopted daughter who later tried to kill Iris with a car.
Victor Sterling operates on sheer dominance. He pulled six-year-old Iris from the trash and sheltered her in a castle. He later wiped out the Sullivans. When Iris charges three hundred thousand dollars on his black card for an abandoned wedding dress, he tracks her down in New York within twenty-four hours. He enters her modest apartment, disarms her violent ex-fiancé, and makes it clear that running away is no longer an option.
The conflict centers on control and utility. Cedric Shaw traded an apartment deed to silence Iris after Serena ran her over. He cheated with Serena, yet his family demands he secure Iris for rare mineral rights or bend the knee to the Sterling family. Cedric cannot match Victor in wealth or physical force. When Victor hurls a knife past Cedric's head, Cedric runs to dig up background dirt.
The dynamic between Victor and Iris shifts rapidly from reunion to possessive intimacy. Victor remembers every word she uttered ten years ago and buys her a lakeside villa beneath snow-capped peaks. Iris still calls their bond impossible, but her friend Tessa spots the reality immediately. Iris has fallen for the brother who controls her world.
Victor holds the weapons, but he hands the trigger to Iris. He cuts off medical resources for Serena. He also leaves the destruction of the Hale and Shaw families entirely in Iris's hands.
