Carson grabs Irene's wrist to keep her from walking away from the party. He assumes she wants to talk about marriage and asks for more time. Irene calmly denies it. When party guests gather, Blair sits right beside Carson. Carson tells Irene to sit somewhere else. Irene moves to an armchair alone. During a whiskey toast, Irene reminds Carson about his flight, but Blair mocks him in front of the room.
