A guard pushes Zoron into an awakening test where the scanner ranks him as level zero. Valery publicly tears up their engagement paper and joins Sterling. Sterling beats Zoron and has him dragged to the fortress wall. Zoron threatens revenge before Sterling hurls him off the ledge toward a zombie horde. Mid-air, Zoron's ring glows red. A sandstorm appears, and the Zombie Lord Vespera catches him and flies toward a distant castle.

Episode 1 scene by scene

00:00: Failed Awakening Test
A guard shoves Zoron forward to take his delayed awakening test. Zoron silently pleads for his ring to stop draining his energy. The scanner marks him as level zero, and the watching crowd immediately laughs at his useless result.
01:07: Valery Betrays Zoron
Valery steps up, slaps Zoron across the face, and rips their engagement contract to pieces. She announces she is with Sterling now. When Zoron attempts to hit Sterling, Sterling knocks him to the ground and brags about his Upper City transfer.
02:24: Cast Over the Fortress Wall
Sterling's henchmen haul Zoron to the top of the defensive wall. Zoron warns Sterling that he will get his revenge if he lives. Sterling mocks his threat and tosses Zoron straight over the edge toward the waiting zombie horde below.
02:48: Rescue by the Zombie Lord
While Zoron falls toward the undead, his black ring suddenly shines red. A violent sandstorm sweeps through the wasteland. Vespera jumps through the air, catches Zoron in her arms, and flies away toward a distant castle across the desert.
