When it rushes Caleb, his eyes glow red and force the zombie back into its cage. The guard leader questions Caleb, who denies everything. Maya returns with food in an armored truck. Elsewhere, Vance pours whiskey for Mr. Kessler, plotting to betray the sanctuary. At home, Caleb promises Maya he will control his power.

00:00: Wasteland Collapse Narration
A voiceover describes how the world collapsed into ruins. Raiders pillage the wasteland while the weak huddle inside fortified shelters. The narrator outlines the brutal conditions survivors face every day outside the gates.
00:17: The Caged Zombie Escapes
A caged zombie terrifies sanctuary recruits during a training session. Caleb carries sandbags nearby. The zombie suddenly breaks out and charges at the crowd. Caleb glares at the creature with glowing red eyes, sending it scrambling backward in fear.
01:06: Confrontation In The Courtyard
The guard leader watches the panicked zombie lock itself back inside the cage. He suspects Caleb caused the creature to run away and confronts him directly. Caleb keeps his head down and insists he did not do anything at all.
01:21: Maya Returns With Supplies
Maya drives an armored supply truck through the sanctuary gates. Cheering residents gather around the vehicle to welcome her back. Maya greets the guard leader, steps down from the cab, and invites Caleb back to their home to eat.
01:55: Kessler Plots With Vance
Vance pours glasses of whiskey for Mr. Kessler inside a raider warehouse. Vance promises that the sanctuary will fall soon. Kessler brushes aside talk about the shelter, stating he only wants to track down remaining traces of the gene.
02:23: A Vow Over Porridge
Maya and Caleb sit together in their shack eating porridge. Maya admits her growing fear that Caleb might lose himself to his inner monster. Caleb clenches his fist as red veins pulse across his arm, swearing to master his strength.
