Pebble Bennett
Vengeful twin bride
Discarded as a baby, Pebble shielded Prince Julian from an assassin's blade and carried him home. Her family stole her credit and locked her away. She ate dirt and played the fool for a year, waiting to drug Aurelia, steal the bridal palanquin, and claim her place in the royal palace.
Aurelia Bennett
Favored older twin sister
Cherished from birth by her parents, Aurelia took full credit for saving the Prince. She expects Pebble to submit entirely. When she wakes from the drugged incense, she storms the royal bedchamber to expose Pebble's switch, desperate to reclaim her position as Crown Princess.
Julian Ashford
The Crown Prince
Rescued from assassins a year ago, Julian believed his savior was Aurelia. When the wedding night turns into an ambush of accusations, he finds himself trapped with an erratic bride. Her childlike behavior and deliberate insults make him doubt whether she is truly mad.
George Bennett
Head of the Bennett family
George prioritizes status above all else. He orders Pebble locked away and sent to the countryside, viewing her as an uncouth rustic. When Julian confronts him in the bedchamber, George falls to his knees and confesses that Pebble is Aurelia's hidden twin sister.
Janet Bennett
Mother of the twins
Janet remained bedridden for six months after Pebble's birth, causing her to favor Aurelia completely. She commands Pebble to give up her credit without protest. When questioned by palace guests, Janet excuses Pebble's degrading name as a measure to help a frail child survive.
Story so far
Discarded at birth and left to survive on rotten scraps, Pebble Bennett turns survival into an art form. Her twin sister Aurelia takes credit for pulling Crown Prince Julian Ashford from death after an assassination attempt. The Bennett parents lock Pebble away to protect the lie, banishing her to an outstation and ignoring her severe injuries.
Pebble responds by feigning madness. She chews weeds and dirt, letting her family believe her mind broke under abuse. Behind that mask, she plans her strike. On the eve of Aurelia's royal wedding, Pebble drugs the incense, locks her sister inside the bedchamber, and steals the bridal sedan chair to take her place in the palace.
Julian Ashford finds himself married to a supposed lunatic who paws at his chest and scribbles the word abandoned across his open palm. Aurelia rushes into the bedchamber with her parents to expose the imposter, but the truth cuts both ways. The Bennett family must explain why a secret twin sister exists at all, while the Prince begins to weigh whether his new bride is truly broken or entirely lethal.
This guide breaks down each player in the palace chamber, the power shifts that drive them, and how each scene exposes the family rot. You can watch The Madwoman Took the Crown full episodes right here to see every confrontation.
